Crafting, cutting, sewing, painting, thrifting, and getting creative was just the beginning of prepping for this past weekends Halloween event, the Masquerade Ball held at the Midland Theatre in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Having the most creative costume is a must. $400 is the prize. And people go all out here. If you don’t dress up, you feel like the odd ball no doubt. So what is all the hype? Is it just for a fun Halloween get-together? Not quite… that’s just a part of the fun. This enormous party decorated by Studio Dan Meiners, is put on by Cerner and First Hand Foundation to help raise funds for children’s medical needs. “First Hand Foundation is a non-for-profit organization that provides funding for individual children with health related needs when insurance and other financial resources have been exhausted. We help with clinical necessities, medical equipment, and travel related to child’s care.”

So next to raising almost $400,000+ dollars at last years event through donors, ticket sales, the online auction and big hearts, you’re also attending the all-you-can-eat (by PB&J), all-you-can-drink event and dancing the night away to the energetic band Lost Wax and DJ Ashton. There is face painting, costume purchases to fit the theme, you can jump in the Banana Who? Booth as seen below, head up to the VIP area and get an 80’s school portrait by  Todd Davidson Photography, or since the Royals made the World Series this year and it just happened to be game #4 on the day of the ball, they changed the theme a bit to “party like it’s 1985” (since the Royals won the last World Series IN the 80s, perfect for the theme right) and displayed the game on the HUGE screen up front at the Midland. Sit back in the theatre seating and enjoy the game, or party in the lounge area with friends below as 1,000+ people scream in support for the same team. #takethecrownroyals
